John 16 33 Cannot Save Tim Tebow and Gators


Tim Tebow, a devout Christian, puts a Bibilcal passage on his eye black every game. This game, the passage, John 16 33, could not save the Florida QB and his Gators against the Alabama Crimson Tide in the SEC title game. The Tide beat the Gators 32-13, taking revenge for 2008's defeat at the hands of Florida.

John 16 33, in the New International Version of the Bible, says "I have told you these things, so that in me you may have peace. In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world." John 16 33, in the King James version of the Bible says "These things I have spoken unto you, that in me ye might have peace. In the world ye shall have tribulation: but be of good cheer; I have overcome the world."

However, John 16 33 was of no help to Tim Tebow in the Florida Alabama SEC title game. Both teams came in undefeated, but it is Alabama who will reach the BCS title game in an attempt to win the National Championship. If Texas wins their game tonight, against No. 21 Nebraska, they will be the Crimson Tide's opponent.

As indicated in our preview of the game, Tim Tebow needed to connect with his TE Aaron Hernandez. A play in the early part of the 4th quarter showed his problems with that. Knocking on the goal line, Florida and Tebow failed to score when Tebow missed a wide-open Hernandez by failing to put "enough air" on the ball. He threw a strike, and it was easily intercepted, whereas a floated pass over the defense would have been an easy TD.

That may, in fact, may have made no difference. At the time, Alabama was already ahead 32-13. Tebow, who came back for his senior year in hopes of winning another title, was 20 of 35 for 247 yards but that pass to Hernandez aw his last gasp.

Meanwhile, for Alabama, RB Mark Ingram, making a strong bid to claim Alabama’s first Heisman Trophy, rushed for 113 yards and three touchdowns. He did so despite suffering an injury in last week's Auburn game. QB Greg McElroy was 12 of 18 for 239 yards and a touchdown.

Whither Tim Tebow now? Many pro football analysts feel he does not have the abilities to be a pro football QB, as his offense at Florida was a gimmicky one. Some predict he will be a better H-back.

Meanwhile, while Tim Tebow always puts a Biblical passage, such as John 16 33, some question his motives. As a Biblical passage, it has been called by some sacrilegious, as they are not meant to be battle cries. On the other hand, if he meant to spread the word of the Lord by having the passage read and spread on the Web, that is a totally different story, say many.

At any rate, Tim Tebow will not be on the big stage at the BCS Title game, nor will any other Biblical passages such as John 16 33. Alabama will face a team, to be determined, but probably Texas, for the national title on Jan. 7th.
