St. Louis Rams coach Steve Spagnuolo will have at least one new assistant coach on his 2010 staff. That’s because wide receivers coach Charlie Baggett has left the Rams. He’s heading to the University of Tennessee where he will be an assistant head coach.
“It’s a good situation for him,” Rams coach Steve Spagnuolo said Monday. “It was one of those (opportunities) that he couldn’t say ‘no’ to. It’s with a very good friend of his, and that’s important in this business.”
That was reference to the Volunteers’ new head coach, Derek Dooley. Dooley and Baggett, who turns 57 on Thursday, worked together as assistant coaches on Nick Saban’s Miami Dolphins staff in 2005-2006
“Charlie’s a good coach,” Spagnuolo said. “I wish him a lot of luck.”
Spagnuolo said there was no timetable _ and no real rush _ on hiring Baggett’s replacement.
“I’ve got some time,” Spagnuolo said.
